Quick and easy video editing can be surprisingly difficult, even on the best video editing programs for PC or Mac computers . This can make video editing on a mobile device all the more daunting, but fear not! Whether you have an iPhone or Android, there are plenty of great apps to turn your smart phone into a legit video editing studio. In this article, we’ll take a look at some of the most popular mobile video editing apps out there right now and help you determine which one is right for you!

Top 7 Video Editing Apps
If you’re looking to edit video from your mobile phone, look no further. We’ve rounded up 7 apps that will help you create videos on-the-go. If you want to add filters and special effects, give iMovie a shot. With over 1 billion downloads, it’s one of the most popular video editing apps in Apple’s App Store. In addition to offering more than 100 filters and effects in its default package, it also allows users to purchase various additional themes. Avid editors may appreciate Pinnacle Studio which has almost identical features as iMovie but costs twice as much at $50 per year or $10 per month ($5 per month if paid annually).

iMovie
Apple’s iMovie is a solid video editing app that many mobile users swear by. The app is available on Mac, Windows, iOS and Android. It’s well designed, easy to use and works as advertised — iMovie helps you create movies with impact whether it be short videos or full-length feature films. While iMovie isn’t exactly cheap or non-professional (hence why I left it off my list of best professional video editing software), if you do have a Mac/iOS device, it may be worth checking out. With several dozen video filters and other features packed into its sleek UI, I could see how iMovie would quickly become a favorite for beginner movie editors who are just getting started with Apple tools.

FilmoraGo
Recently ranked as one of Google Play’s top 10 free video editing apps, FilmoraGo by Wondershare has a bunch of great features packed into a very intuitive interface. Not only is it one of the most colorful and well-designed video editing apps on our list, but it’s also one of our favorites for Android because it makes us feel like we’re using something that looks at home on Android and not just thrown together by another random developer.

Lumen5
This app makes it easy to make high-quality videos out of things you’ve already got on your phone, like photos and video clips. What sets it apart from other editing apps is its elegant interface: Everything is intuitive, and all features are accessible with just a few taps. Since it’s not designed for serious video editing, you may want to choose another one if that’s what you’re looking to do. But if you want to quickly trim a shaky video or add some filters and send it right off your phone, Lumen5 is perfect.

Magisto
Easy video editing made fun! Magisto is an easy and fun way to produce videos using your photos, video clips, music and movie clips. The app also comes with a host of video filters that you can use to make your videos shine. You can even include text within a video frame while editing if you want. After making edits, you can export them straight to YouTube or Facebook. Magisto offers basic features like trimming, cutting, fading and rotating a video’s audio and visual aspect to help improve on your final outcome. While it may not be as robust as some other apps on our list of free iPhone video editing apps , Magisto still packs in all of the basics for sharing videos quickly and easily with friends or family through any social network.

Splice
An app that lets you combine videos, photographs and music to create short videos. It has a very user-friendly interface and is available on both Android and iOS. The free version allows you to save your projects while they are in progress, while the paid version (available at $1.99) allows unlimited saving of projects. Both versions allow you to upload your finished project directly to Facebook or YouTube. You can also share it via email or send it as a text message or MMS if your device supports it.

Videoshop
For simple video editing, Videoshop is a great choice. It’s easy to use, yet powerful enough to satisfy basic users. If you’re just looking to throw some quick video edits together and don’t need any fancy effects, it might be exactly what you’re looking for. The app includes more than 120 filters that users can choose from when putting together their project. With these tools available at your fingertips, you can create professional-looking videos in no time. Whether you need something with a little more power or something simpler is entirely up to you; Videoshop has you covered either way.

Flipagram
There are a ton of apps available that can help you create interesting video slide shows on your mobile device. One of my favorites is Flipagram, which lets you take your own photos and turn them into short video slideshows (which are pretty dang cool, by themselves). They even have an option to create magazine covers on your phone! You can share these videos straight from your app or from their website. If you’re looking to go beyond a simple photo slideshow, Flipagram may be what you need.
